who am i?
I ultimately believe that both Music and Love are the most powerful forces in the world. They are the highest forms of and ways to divinity that in my short experience on this earth I have come to experience.
I am a chameleon: A flute blowin' piano playin' song writing chameleon who loves to record life and nature in photographs, jewelry, and song.
I am adaptable, changeable, evolutionary and solitary. I contain contradiction and consistency.
I was born in the Hudson Valley of NY to a wonderfully loving and supportive family. Music has always been part of my life, more so when I decided to drop my dream of becoming an archaeologist that I declared at the the age of 7 I would one day be. I wrote my first song at 4, learned the flute at 9, and went on for many years teaching myself piano and guitar, writing songs, singing, playing with numerous wonderful musicians.
Musical Medicine
Yes, music is medicine. I had subconscious knowledge of music being medicinal which then became conscious knowledge when I decided to go back to college.
The chameleon changes into the academic:
I received a degree in music therapy and jazz studies from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2004. I became a board certified music therapist in 2005, and continued on to work with children, both neurotypical and with developmental disabilities (predominantly Autism). I also provided music therapy for hospice patients: people diagnosed with terminal illnesses. I have taught private music lessons and have facilitated many years of drumming groups and circles as well as other musically based activities.
I love to cook, I do Bikram yoga 3-4 times a week, and I need to be submerged in water as much as possible. I am a Reiki Master/Teacher and a reverend.
I believe in radical honesty, even though I don't always practice it.
I owe my life to all those I have loved, do love and will love, and those who have loved me in return.
NAMASTE
